The staffs were very nice and friendly with our limited Spanish. Conveniently located to Pier (can walk to Statue of Colon and catch Port Bus), walking distance to Gaudi's works, view of Boqueria market and also hotel provides a safe. Small hotel but very clean. Staff tried to repair the window lock asap. Breakfast had small selections but enough amount for us, was served 7am to 10am.
Hard to find; I suggest to everyone look on Google map prior to arrival to visualize the entrance. We used Metro (Green l-3) and it is 3 mins from the stairs but we were followed by pick-picketers to the Hotel elevator (Reception at 3rd floor.) Can look down Boquria market and La Rambla from the window, should expect the night isn't quiet. Check the window; ours had a broken lock by someone before even thought the balcony is located at 3 floor.

The hotel was clean and nice, and the stuff was very helpful and nice. I liked the location, as it is next to the shopping street, and the beach is only 20 minutes walk!
There was only one very small window in my room, which overlooked the inside of the building (the staircase). So no sunshine came in - only daylight.

We were pleasantly surprised by Hostal Boqueria, as we had some qualms in booking a hostal. (80 year old mother, 58 year old daughter)We would class it as an upscale hostal or budget hotel. The rooms are ensuite, typically European small, but a clean, decent place to stay with a very helpful staff. It is right on La Ramblas and across the street from Market Boqueria. Elevator holds 3 people and works great. Breakfast is continental but more than adequate. Don't expect upscale hotel service, but it is a great place to stay if you want to be on La Ramblas. We booked 2 days here before moving to Best Western Dante and between the 2 got a very good look at different areas of Barcelona. We would definately recommend Hostal Boqueria
If you want a quiet hotel, consider booking someplace else. Hostal Boqueria is right on La Ramblas and directly across from Market Boqueria which is a big tourist draw. There is noise and it can continue late in the evening. Inside rooms don't have windows except to the quiet elevator shaft. Outside rooms are a bit noisy, but if you want to stay on La Ramblas you want the noise and the people experience.

The location is excellent, and our room had a view of las Ramblas. The hotel is just infront of the market and 1 min away from the subway station. Staff was helpful and the rooms were clean. Excellent for people who just want a place to sleep at night. Breakfast had no frills but was enough. Wifi is available from you room which was great, you just need to ask for the password!!
The a/c took a bit to get up and running but in the end it cooled the room. We really missed the lack of a fridge, but we knew form the beginning that there will not be one, at least there is a vending machine in the lobby

The hotel is very well situated and reasonably priced, ideal for shopping and sightseeing.
The dining area is too small, although at present this is being addressed.
Tourists from South Africa often stay at these properties. Ideas for your future trips.
